Bayern Munich has secured the future of their young star, Jamal Musiala, by extending his contract until June 2030. The 21-year-old midfielder, who joined the club from Chelsea’s youth setup in 2019, has put pen to paper on a new deal, replacing the contract that was set to expire at the end of next season.
Celebrating the news, Bayern’s official website featured a playful image of Musiala dressed as a magician, along with a contest for fans to win an autographed shirt from the player.
Bayern’s president, Herbert Hainer, praised Musiala, stating, “Fans come to see players like Jamal. He is truly one of a kind.” He further commented on Musiala’s talent, saying, “Sometimes it seems like he defies the laws of physics. Today is a fantastic day for FC Bayern, thanks to our sporting management and the board.”
Musiala’s new contract follows similar extensions for his teammates, Alphonso Davies and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Meanwhile, key players like Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sané, and Thomas Müller are also approaching the end of their current contracts.
This season, Musiala played a pivotal role in securing the 2023 Bundesliga championship for Bayern, scoring the decisive goal against Cologne while Borussia Dortmund was held to a draw. So far, he’s netted 10 goals and provided four assists in the Bundesliga this season, bringing his total to 43 goals in 132 league matches and six goals in 43 Champions League appearances.
In his own words, Musiala expressed his commitment to the club: “Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. I started my professional journey here, and I am confident we can achieve great things together in the coming years. I feel at home in Munich and among our amazing fans. We have so much to strive for, and I’m excited about what lies ahead.”
On the international stage, Musiala has made 38 appearances for the German national team, scoring seven goals.
