Amritsar Welcomes NRIs Supporting Congress in Delhi Elections
A group of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), including leaders from the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) based in Europe and other regions, have arrived in India to support the Congress party’s campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. They believe NRIs play an important role in shaping the future of India, not only through financial help, but also by offering valuable insight and guidance.
Sukhjeevan Preet Singh Padda, the leader of the delegation from Belgium, emphasized the importance of NRI participation in showcasing Congress’s vision for Delhi. He noted that NRIs can help amplify the message that Congress is dedicated to both the needs of Indians living abroad and the welfare of the people in Delhi.
Padda, along with other members of the delegation, visited the Golden Temple and Durgiana Temple to pay their respects. “We NRIs can share useful insights and gather support for a government that is committed to improving life for the people in Delhi and abroad,” he stated.
During their visit, the NRIs met with senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. They discussed the Delhi elections, the current political landscape in India, and the pivotal role NRIs can play in the nation’s future.
Kamalpreet Singh Dhaliwal from the UK mentioned that their discussions also touched upon important issues such as the ongoing farmers’ protests, challenges facing NRIs, potential investments in India, and ways to engage the youth with Rahul Gandhi.
Dhaliwal shared that they all agreed with Rahul Gandhi’s view that Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears to be wary of the Congress Party and its core values. Rahul Gandhi pointed out how Congress has been instrumental in strengthening connections between India and the global Indian community, promoting an environment where NRIs can thrive.
Padda stressed that the lack of strong leadership in India has slowed the growth and contributions of NRIs. He called on the people of Delhi to support Congress, urging them to restore the hope, progress, and unity that were prevalent during the party’s previous leadership. He concluded that under Congress, Delhi and the rest of the nation could work towards a brighter and more developed future.
