GAZA CITY: Hamas Declares Gaza Will Rebuild Following Ceasefire
Hamas announced on Monday that the people of Gaza will rise again after enduring over 15 months of intense Israeli attacks. The group emphasized that Gaza’s resilient spirit will help rebuild the region that has suffered so much destruction.
In a statement released during the second day of a ceasefire with Israel, Hamas expressed confidence that the people would continue to resist what they called "the occupation." They stated, "Gaza, with its great people and its resilience, will rise again to rebuild what the occupation has destroyed."
Hamas also highlighted that despite 471 days of conflict, their people’s determination remained strong. They claimed that the ongoing suffering has not weakened their resolve to defend their land against aggression.
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has seen a prisoner exchange, with three Israeli hostages being released by Hamas in return for approximately 90 Palestinians who were held in Israeli prisons. This initial ceasefire, lasting 42 days, began on Sunday and has raised hopes for a period of calm amidst the ongoing conflict.
According to the health ministry in Gaza, which is overseen by Hamas and is known to be regarded as reliable by the United Nations, at least 46,913 people have lost their lives in the region due to the conflict. The situation remains critical as both sides navigate this temporary pause in hostilities.
