A South Korean court has approved an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol, following his impeachment and suspension from office. This action stems from his decision to impose martial law on December 3, as reported by investigating authorities.

The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials confirmed that the Seoul Western District Court granted the warrant. Notably, this is the first time an arrest warrant has been issued for a sitting president in South Korea, according to local news sources.

Earlier this week, South Korean investigators had asked for the warrant due to the recently enacted martial law. President Yoon is under investigation for potential insurrection charges.

The court has not provided any further comments on this matter.
