Amritsar: Indian Diaspora Across Europe Pays Tribute to Dr. Manmohan Singh

In the wake of the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Indian communities in Europe came together to honor his memory. Regardless of their religious or political differences, many gathered in gurdwaras and Hindu temples to pray for his soul.

Rajwinder Singh, who participated in prayers at Gurdwara Sahib in Geneva, Switzerland, shared, “People united to remember his leadership, wisdom, and dedication to advancing India. His legacy was acknowledged by Sikhs, Hindus, and individuals of all faiths, seeing him as a statesman who brought India into the global arena.”

Harpinder Singh from The Netherlands noted that individuals traveled from various locations to pay their respects. “Dr. Singh was not only a politician; he represented humility, integrity, and wisdom. As a Sikh, I feel great pride that a Sikh led our nation during a pivotal time for global recognition,” he stated after prayers at Gurdwara Guru Nanak in Rotterdam.

Parmod Kumar in Germany mentioned a prayer conducted at the Sri Hindu Mandir. “We always admired Dr. Singh’s leadership, as he inspired people worldwide. I recall how, under his leadership, India started being recognized as a significant player in the global economy. His composed nature under stress and his economic reforms still impact us today,” he explained.

Jeewan Padda from Belgium reported a prayer ceremony held at Gurdwara Guru Nanak Sahib in Brussels. “Hindus and Sikhs gathered in large numbers to honor Dr. Singh’s vision and to pay their last respects. Despite living in Belgium, I have always been motivated by his commitment to peaceful diplomacy and economic prosperity. Today, we pray for his peace and for the harmonious future he envisioned for India,” he remarked.

Similar gatherings were also reported from countries like Italy, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, and Finland, reflecting the widespread esteem for Dr. Singh among the Indian diaspora across Europe.
