Indian Cricket Team Faces Challenges in Test Rankings Ahead of Fourth Test Against Australia

As the Indian cricket team prepares for the fourth Test against Australia on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, they have seen a notable decline in the ICC Test rankings. Key players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill have all slipped down the ladder.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who impressively climbed to No. 2 in the Test rankings after the Perth Test, has now dropped to No. 5. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant is struggling to find his form and has fallen two spots to No. 11. Shubman Gill has also had a tough time, dropping four places to No. 20.

Virat Kohli has lost a position and is now ranked No. 21. Captain Rohit Sharma is facing significant pressure as he has tumbled five places to No. 35. His recent record is concerning, having lost four out of the last five Tests, including being whitewashed by New Zealand.

In contrast, there is some good news for KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. Rahul, whose place in the team was under threat, has jumped an impressive ten places to No. 40. He is currently the highest run-scorer for India in this series, accumulating 235 runs in three matches with an average of 47.

Ravindra Jadeja also saw a rise in his ranking, moving up nine spots to No. 42. Although he missed the Perth and Adelaide Tests, he made a significant contribution by scoring 77 runs in the first innings of the Brisbane Test, helping the team avoid a follow-on.

The series is currently tied at 1-1, with India winning the Perth Test by 295 runs and losing the Adelaide Test by 10 wickets, while the Gabba Test ended in a draw. With the upcoming Test at the MCG, both teams are eager to secure a lead in this competitive series.
