Smriti Mandhana Poised for Historic Milestone in ODIs

Smriti Mandhana is just a step away from achieving an impressive feat in Women’s One Day Internationals (ODIs). She is currently 310 runs away from becoming the fastest Indian woman batter to score 4000 runs in ODIs. The existing record is held by Mithali Raj, who reached this milestone during her 112th innings against West Indies in Rajkot in 2011.

Mandhana will get her chance to make history when India faces Australia in a three-match ODI series starting December 5 at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane. So far, in her 88 ODIs, Mandhana has accumulated 3690 runs, boasting an impressive average of 45 and a strike rate of 84.92, including eight centuries and 27 fifties.

Notably, Australia’s Belinda Clark currently holds the record for the fastest player—male or female—to reach 4000 runs, achieving this in just 86 innings. Other notable players on the list include Meg Lanning, Laura Wolvaardt, and Suzie Bates, among others.

Fastest Players to 4000 Runs in ODIs:

  • Belinda Clark – 86 innings
  • Meg Lanning – 89 innings
  • Laura Wolvaardt – 96 innings
  • Karen Rolton – 103 innings
  • Suzie Bates – 105 innings
  • Stafanie Taylor – 107 innings
  • Tammy Beaumont – 110 innings

Mandhana’s Recent Performance

Mandhana has shown good form lately. In the recent Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2024, she scored 144 runs in five matches, averaging 28.80 with a strike rate of 142.57, including a top score of 51. Earlier in October, she surpassed Mithali Raj’s record for the most ODI centuries by an Indian woman.

After a slow start in the first two matches against New Zealand, Mandhana redeemed herself with a match-winning century in the final game held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, further highlighting her talent and resilience.

As she heads into the series against Australia, fans are eagerly anticipating Mandhana’s journey toward this significant career milestone.
