Dilip Joshi and Asit Kumar Modi in Heated Dispute on TMKOC Set
Dilip Joshi, best known for his role as Jethalal in the popular television show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), was involved in a serious disagreement with the show’s creator and producer, Asit Kumar Modi. Reports suggest that the confrontation became quite intense when Joshi allegedly grabbed Modi by the collar during their argument.
The encounter is said to have happened in August 2024, and it stemmed from a disagreement regarding Joshi’s requests for time off. According to reports, Joshi had been seeking a few days away from the set, but Modi appeared to ignore his requests. When Modi finally made an appearance at the filming location, Joshi approached him, only to be met with what he felt was dismissal as Modi chose to engage with other cast members instead.
This perceived lack of respect reportedly led to a verbal clash that escalated to Joshi holding Modi by the collar in a moment of frustration. Sources claim that Joshi also expressed his willingness to leave the show during this heated exchange. Fortunately, the situation was later calmed, and the two managed to reconcile.
History of Tension
This incident is not the first time there have been reports of friction between Joshi and Modi. There were previous conflicts, including a significant disagreement during a shoot in Hong Kong, which required intervention from fellow cast member Gurucharan Singh to help resolve.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been a favorite among audiences since its launch in 2008, but the show has faced numerous controversies in recent times. Former cast members like Shailesh Lodha and Jennifer Mistry have openly accused Modi and the production team of harassment. Mistry went as far as to claim that Modi made inappropriate advances towards her during a shoot, while Palak Sindhwani (who plays Sonu) discussed experiences of harsh treatment while filming.
Despite these challenges, TMKOC continues to be one of the longest-running sitcoms in Indian television history, boasting a loyal fan following that enjoys its humorous take on everyday life.
