Kitchen 66 Welcomes Applications for Spanish Language Program

Kitchen 66, located at the Mother Road Market, is inviting Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs to join its new program aimed at helping them grow their food businesses. This initiative will focus on providing essential skills such as marketing, public relations, and guidance on obtaining business financing and permits, all in Spanish.

Participants will have access to a commercial kitchen, as well as opportunities to sell their products through pop-up events at the market. Those interested in applying should note that the deadline is Friday, January 17. Applications can be found online, and potential applicants are encouraged to follow the Kitchen 66 Facebook page for updates.

Kitchen 66 is part of the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation’s efforts to reduce obstacles for food entrepreneurs. The program partners with TEDC Creative Capital, an organization committed to supporting small business development in Tulsa.

Tulsa Cancer Institute Joins National Research Group

Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, based in Tulsa, has become a primary member of NRG Oncology, a significant step that enhances its research capabilities. This new affiliation allows the institute to access government-funded studies, strengthening its already established clinical trials and research programs.

The partnership will enable the Oklahoma Cancer Specialists to offer advanced treatment options to patients not just in Oklahoma but also beyond. The collaboration provides the institute with independent access to important government studies and a global network focused on various cancers, including breast and prostate cancer.

According to Dr. Daron Street, the president of OCSRI, clinical trials play a crucial role in oncology advancements, providing patients with access to some of the newest treatments that are typically unavailable outside trial settings.

Arvest Bank Achieves Community Development Certification

Arvest Bank has shared exciting news regarding its nonbank subsidiary, the Arvest Opportunity Fund, which recently gained certification as a Community Development Entity. This status, awarded by the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, reflects the fund’s commitment to helping low-income individuals and communities.

To qualify, the Arvest Opportunity Fund showcased its dedication to serving economically challenged areas while maintaining accountability to its efforts through an advisory board. The fund is now eligible to apply for new market tax credits, which can attract private investment to needy communities.

Hillis Schild, Executive Director of the Arvest Opportunity Fund, expressed enthusiasm about this achievement and its potential to support economic stability and financial security for families and businesses in the region.

In summary, these initiatives illustrate a strong commitment to local entrepreneurship, healthcare advancements, and community development, showcasing how organizations in Tulsa are working together to create a brighter future.
