Nvidia’s Family Ties: Jensen Huang’s Children Step into Key Roles
Nvidia, now recognized as the world’s leading company, is increasingly influenced by the family of its founder, Jensen Huang. Recently, his daughter Madison Huang tied the knot with Nico Caprez, a former professional ski racer from Switzerland, during a beautiful ceremony in Hawaii. Caprez, age 35, has quickly risen to become a crucial executive at Nvidia, managing significant partnerships with emerging cloud providers and data firms.
According to insights from some employees, it appears that Jensen Huang, who is 63, may be getting Madison and Nico ready for more prominent roles within the company. A source even mentioned that the company operates more like a family business than many might think, which is quite unique in the tech sector.
Spencer Huang, Jensen’s son, is also involved with Nvidia, working as a director of product management for robotics since 2022.
Nico Caprez: From the Slopes to the Boardroom
Nico Caprez grew up in the scenic Engadin valley in Switzerland, competing nationally in several skiing events before his retirement in 2013. Following his skiing career, he transitioned to consulting with Boston Consulting Group in Zurich. After that, he furthered his education at the London Business School, where he and Madison were classmates, both graduating in 2021.
Madison joined Nvidia shortly after, and Nico came on board in early 2024 thanks to her referral. His rapid rise at the company saw him promoted to vice president of global AI infrastructure growth, skipping a step in the process. In this role, he focuses on maintaining relationships with cloud companies to ensure they continue purchasing Nvidia’s chips. He also plays a vital role in helping these companies secure resources and financial tools. Notably, he was instrumental in a major deal earlier this year, facilitating a $15 billion loan for Australian cloud company Firmus to purchase a significant number of Nvidia chips.
His growing influence has not gone unnoticed; industry insiders have described him as “Jensen’s consigliere,” highlighting the trust that the CEO places in him.
Madison Huang Advances in Robotics Marketing
Meanwhile, Madison Huang has made impressive strides at Nvidia, recently promoted to senior director of product marketing for physical AI, which includes robotics and other real-world applications. Her responsibilities extend to overseeing Nvidia’s simulation tools and open-source projects, like the Nemotron AI models, designed to attract developers to their hardware. She often accompanies her father on international trips to meet with supply chain partners.
However, not all initiatives are meeting expectations. For instance, Caprez’s proposal for revenue-sharing with cloud firms, known as the AI Compute Partnership, is currently undergoing revisions after some companies expressed concerns about relying too much on Nvidia and compromising their profit margins.
While both Madison and Nico work two levels below Jensen in the corporate hierarchy, their close relationship with him is what truly counts, as indicated by an Nvidia executive’s comment on the importance of their roles beyond just their titles.
