Infosys Executive Missing After Nepal Floods
Lax Gopisetty, the head of Infosys Public Services, has been reported missing following devastating flash floods in Nepal on August 26. The floods have left numerous individuals unaccounted for, prompting concern for their safety.
A representative from Infosys confirmed that Gopisetty was in Nepal during the disaster for personal reasons and that his safety is a top priority for the company. They stated, “We can confirm that our colleague Lax Gopisetty is currently not reachable.” The firm is actively trying to contact him and is in touch with his family, offering support during this challenging time.
In their official statement, Infosys expressed sadness over the calamity and the loss of lives it has caused. The company is collaborating with relevant authorities to gather more information on Gopisetty’s whereabouts.
Gopisetty brings over 30 years of experience in various sectors and has been instrumental in advising on strategy, technology, and operations at Infosys. He was previously a global vice president at Infosys and held a prominent position at Accenture before joining the firm.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has reported that at least 287 Indian nationals and 128 persons of Indian origin are still missing in the aftermath of the floods. Four Indian nationals were rescued from a hydropower project in Nepal earlier today and have been brought to Kathmandu for safety.
As the situation develops, forensic expert teams from India are set to arrive in Kathmandu to assist in identifying the missing through DNA analysis. The devastating effects of the floods continue to raise concerns and highlight the urgency of rescue efforts in the region.
