Pooja Meri Jaan Set to Stream on ZEE5 After Four-Year Wait
After a long wait of nearly four years, the movie Pooja Meri Jaan, featuring Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi, is finally making its debut on the streaming platform ZEE5. This thrilling film had been stuck in the release limbo, but now viewers can soon enjoy it. The exact premiere date is still not disclosed, but ZEE5 has confirmed that it will be part of their upcoming lineup.
Directed by Navjot Gulati and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Pooja Meri Jaan was initially intended for a digital release on JioCinema. However, a merger between JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar halted the project, leaving everyone involved frustrated as they awaited clarity on its future.
Besides Pooja Meri Jaan, also arriving on ZEE5 is a variety of new Hindi films and series. Upcoming titles include Kambli, which tells the story of former cricketer Vinod Kambli, as well as The Scam: Leaked, Coffee King, and Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai 2.0, hosted by R. Madhavan. Fans will also see the return of classic shows like Zee Horror Show, alongside new seasons of popular franchises like Rangbaaz, Janaawar, and Bakaiti.
In terms of movies, ZEE5’s upcoming slate features Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai with Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mouni Roy, Bandar starring Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra, and Kangana Ranaut’s Bharat Bhagya Vidhata. Additional titles like Sarvgunn Sampann, Ghamasaan, Ikroop, and Dalimb are also set to release.
Earlier this year, director Navjot Gulati shared insights about the emotional toll from the delays. He mentioned that his father, who passed away in 2024, often asked about the film’s release. Gulati expressed frustration over communication issues with co-producer Amar Kaushik, alleging that a disagreement over pricing caused the delays. He questioned why a theatrical option wasn’t considered for the film, citing other successful projects that had taken that route.
Navjot believes the delay has negatively impacted his career, making other producers cautious about working with him while his film remains unreleased. He even mentioned he would consider buying the film back if the producers decided not to move forward with it. Pooja Meri Jaan tackles important themes, including stalking and cybercrime, and features actors Vikram Singh Chauhan and Vijay Raaz in key roles. The shooting and post-production were completed by the end of 2022.
Fans are eager to see this long-awaited film finally come to life on streaming.
