T-Series has made a significant move by acquiring the global music rights for the upcoming film King. This exclusive deal lasts for 50 years and was announced with details from the music company, aided by Red Chillies Entertainment and Zee Music Company. There had been speculation in the industry about a shorter licensing term for the film’s music, but this news confirms a long-term agreement instead.
This deal allows T-Series to have exclusive commercial rights over everything related to the film’s music worldwide for the next five decades. This includes the film’s songs, music videos, and associated publishing interests. A spokesperson for T-Series emphasized that this arrangement is not just a temporary licensing deal but a complete 50-year control over the music rights for King.
The film’s soundtrack is anticipated to be a highlight, featuring music composed by Sachin-Jigar, along with background scores from Anirudh Ravichander. There’s also excitement surrounding a collaboration between Ed Sheeran and Arijit Singh on the soundtrack, which has sparked interest from fans.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King stars Shah Rukh Khan alongside Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan. This film is particularly special as it marks the first time Shah Rukh and his daughter, Suhana, will appear together on screen, making it even more eagerly awaited.
King is set to hit theaters this Christmas. With T-Series holding the music rights for such an extended period, they will manage the film’s music beyond just the time it is in cinemas, allowing them to explore various platforms and formats for the soundtrack in the decades to come.
