Yubibim Supports South Korea’s Team Post World Cup Exit
Yubibim, a notable participant from the Netflix show “Black and White Chef Lisa,” continues to show his backing for the South Korean national soccer team, even after their early exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
On January 14th, Yubibim shared a post on social media commenting on the quarterfinal matchups and playfully labeled South Korea as the “Bibim Philosophy Champion.” He further expressed his sentiment with a humorous note, suggesting, “When you hit the ball with a bibimbap spoon, it’s an obvious goal!” along with hashtags like #SouthKorea and #BibimKing.
Despite the team’s disappointing performance, which led to their elimination in the Round of 32, Yubibim aimed to lift spirits. The team faced significant criticism, which resulted in coach Hong Myung-bo stepping down and captain Son Heung-min issuing an apology online.
Earlier, Yubibim had attempted to rally support with a post offering “bibimbap” to the team—a gesture that some saw as a late show of encouragement after the loss. However, many felt this action was out of touch given the team’s recent struggles.
Yubibim is no stranger to public attention. He rose to fame through his role in “Black and White Chef Lisa” but faced scrutiny last November when he admitted to past illegal restaurant operations. In 2015, he was sentenced to eight months in prison for running a business without proper registration but later had his sentence suspended on appeal. His restaurant, which operated on leased state-owned land, became quite popular, reportedly generating substantial revenue.
Despite ups and downs in his career, Yubibim remains committed to cheering on his country’s sports teams.
