The film Punjab 95, now renamed Satluj, has found itself at the center of controversy once again. After a brief showing on the streaming service Zee5, it was unexpectedly removed, prompting a flurry of discussions online. Almost immediately, pirated versions began spreading across various social media platforms, causing concern among fans and filmmakers alike.

The film’s quick removal sparked curiosity and frustration among viewers, leading many to voice their opinions on social media. Some users have openly expressed disappointment, lamenting the fact that they couldn’t view the film legally. Others have rallied in support of the film, arguing that the challenges it has faced only heighten interest and anticipation. The film’s contentious themes have reignited debates about censorship and artistic expression.

Satluj is inspired by the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Kalra, focusing on his investigation into alleged unlawful killings during a turbulent period in Punjab. The narrative also touches on the police personnel who were allegedly targeted for refusing to partake in these operations.

Since its announcement, the film has undergone several hurdles, including changes in its title from Ghallughara to Punjab 95 and finally Satluj. Complicated certification processes have delayed its release multiple times. When it briefly appeared on Zee5, fans were hopeful that the long-anticipated film would finally be available, but the abrupt removal left many feeling disheartened.

The current situation regarding the film’s leak adds yet another dimension to its ongoing saga. While pirated copies continue to circulate, there has been no official word from the filmmakers or the streaming service supporting these unauthorized versions. Piracy remains a legal offense and poses a significant threat to the industry.

Meanwhile, the film’s producers and Zee5 are reportedly working hard to ensure a proper release without interruptions. Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Films, Satluj features Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role, with Arjun Rampal and Suvinder Vicky among the supporting cast. The discussions around the film continue to generate buzz, making it one of the most talked-about releases in recent times.
