The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given a U/A 16+ certificate to the film Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. While the movie has been approved for release, it had to undergo some changes as per CBFC’s requirements.
First on the list was the need to modify the disclaimer at the start of the film. The committee also requested that subtitles be added to all songs. The producers, Yash Raj Films (YRF), were instructed to provide the opening credits and end scrolls in Hindi.
When it comes to cuts, the changes involved some visuals in the first half of Alpha, which were altered or replaced with different scenes; however, specific details regarding these visuals were not disclosed. Similar adjustments were made at another point in the first half. In the second half, scenes depicting multiple stabbings were also toned down in favor of alternative visuals. Additionally, one inappropriate word was removed from the first half.
The CBFC also mandated that anti-alcohol warnings be inserted during scenes displaying alcohol consumption. Furthermore, the production team was required to submit a consent letter from the parents of the child actor involved in the film.
Once all these edits were completed, the filmmaking team received their censor certificate on June 29. The film’s runtime is stated to be 140.48 minutes, which translates to 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 48 seconds. To note, the first half runs for 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 32 seconds, while the second half is 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 16 seconds long.
Alpha is part of YRF’s Spy Universe and is directed by Shiv Rawail. The film is set to hit theaters on Friday, July 3.
