PM Modi Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi During Seychelles Visit

VICTORIA (Seychelles), June 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi during a visit to the Peace Park in Seychelles on Monday. Gandhi’s influence is remembered in the country with a statue dedicated to him at the park.

During his visit, PM Modi placed floral tributes at the statue and took the time to interact with local children. He also enjoyed a musical performance by a local artist.

Members of the Indian community in Seychelles welcomed him warmly, waving small Indian flags as he arrived. Before visiting the Peace Park, Modi prayed at the Sri Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple.

Earlier in his trip, PM Modi had discussions with the Indian diaspora and posed for photos with them in Victoria. He arrived in Seychelles on Saturday for a three-day trip.

Over the weekend, Modi met with Seychelles President Patrick Herminie for extensive talks and also participated as the Guest of Honour in the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Seychelles’ National Day.

This year marks half a century of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles. During a special ceremony, PM Modi was honored with the title ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ by President Herminie.
