Prime Minister Modi Set to Visit Seychelles for National Day Celebrations
Victoria, Seychelles – On June 27, 2026, the vibrant capital city of Victoria is buzzing with excitement as it prepares for the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His two-day visit coincides with Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee celebrations for National Day, marking 50 years of independence.
The Indian community in Seychelles has adorned the streets with colorful welcome banners. Messages like “Byenveni Modi” (Welcome Modi) and “Indian Diaspora Welcomes Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi” can be seen throughout the Victoria-Mahe area, showcasing the warm reception planned for the Indian leader.
This visit marks PM Modi’s return to Seychelles since his last trip in 2015, and it highlights the friendly relationship between the two nations. The Prime Minister will be in Seychelles from June 27 to 29 at the invitation of President Patrick Herminie.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that a team from the Indian Armed Forces and two Indian Navy ships will join the festivities, symbolizing the strong defense and maritime ties shared by India and Seychelles.
During his visit, PM Modi is expected to hold bilateral discussions with President Herminie to review ongoing cooperation and address regional and global issues of mutual concern. He will also speak at the National Assembly and engage with the Indian diaspora living in Seychelles.
India and Seychelles share a rich partnership based on cultural, historical, and personal connections. As an important neighbor in the Indian Ocean, Seychelles is key to India’s broader vision for regional cooperation, known as MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions).
