Pope Leo XIV’s Message for Health Conference

Pope Leo XIV has extended warm greetings to everyone participating in a health conference organized by Caritas Internationalis. The event, titled “A Holistic Approach to Health in the Caritas Confederation,” is taking place in Castel Gandolfo from June 23 to 25.

In a message sent on Wednesday, signed by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, the Pope expressed his spiritual support for the participants. He expressed hope that their efforts could inspire collaboration and kindness in healthcare, emphasizing the importance of aligning these efforts with Gospel teachings.

Pope Leo XIV reminded attendees that Jesus is often referred to as the Divine Physician in the Scriptures. He emphasized how Christ addresses all forms of suffering—mental, physical, and spiritual—helping to heal the ailments that lead to pain and isolation.

He cited his encyclical, Magnifica humanitas, to highlight the dignity that every person holds simply by being created and loved by God. This dignity, he noted, surpasses individual circumstances and is revealed when health is restored, guiding humanity toward salvation.

The Pope encouraged those at the conference to continue their important work in the Church, which is dedicated to reaching out to the sick and suffering. He stated, “Healing is not just an idea; it starts with real action to mend the wounds of those in pain.”

In closing his message, Pope Leo XIV expressed his hope that the efforts of Caritas and its affiliates will bring God’s compassion and kindness to those who need it most.
