US and India Strengthen Ties Amid Technological Cooperation

Washington, DC – June 25, 2026: US Under Secretary of Economic Affairs, Jacob Helberg, has highlighted the strong partnership between the United States and India, calling it one of the most important collaborations of the 21st century. He emphasized India’s role as a key player in shaping the future of global technology.

In a recent interview, Helberg expressed his excitement about ongoing collaborative efforts under the Pax Silica initiative. India was among the first countries to join this initiative, underscoring its commitment to technological advancement.

“We’re thrilled to partner with India. Our Ambassador in India has been instrumental in nurturing this vital relationship,” Helberg stated, describing it as one of the most consequential bilateral ties in the world today.

During high-level talks held recently, significant progress was made on various topics, including regional security frameworks and digital trust standards, particularly within the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad). Helberg noted the importance of having Indian business representatives involved in the ongoing discussions, turning policy into practical partnerships.

The focus is clear: both nations aim to elevate their conversations from mere diplomatic exchanges to real-world collaborations in deep technology sectors. These discussions are taking place at the ongoing Pax Silica Summit, a two-day event that began on June 25. This follows the first summit last December, with India officially joining the initiative in February alongside the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.

Unlike a standard trade agreement, the Pax Silica initiative is designed to enhance economic and military security. It recognizes the critical role that nations controlling the artificial intelligence supply chain will play in future security dynamics.

Key resources like semiconductors and critical minerals are at the forefront of this initiative, which aims to reduce reliance on China in sectors essential for global competitiveness. The ongoing discussions highlight a strategic shift by the US and its allies to ensure both national security and economic strength in the ever-evolving technological landscape.
