Shots were fired at a fitness center owned by singer Guru Randhawa in Paschim Vihar, outer Delhi on Wednesday night. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has taken responsibility for the attack through a social media post, as reported by various news outlets.
Luckily, no one was hurt in this incident. The Delhi Police quickly arrived at the scene after receiving reports about the gunfire and are now investigating the matter.
### Warning from the Bishnoi Gang
Anil Pandit, a member of the Bishnoi gang, shared a message on social media stating that Randhawa’s gym was targeted as a warning. He mentioned that the attack was due to Randhawa becoming very close to Bollywood star Salman Khan. Pandit warned of more attacks against those the gang views as threats.
Authorities are currently reviewing these social media claims and have summoned the gym’s local owner for questioning. Initial investigations revealed that two men on a motorcycle, wearing masks, shot multiple rounds at the gym before escaping. Police are also examining CCTV footage from the area.
### Background on the Bishnoi Gang’s Grudge
The gang’s animosity towards Salman Khan can be traced back to a 1998 incident in Rajasthan, where the actor was accused of poaching blackbucks, an animal sacred to the Bishnoi community. Several co-stars of Khan from the movie “Hum Saath Saath Hain,” including Saif Ali Khan and Tabu, were implicated as well.
In 2018, a Jodhpur court convicted Salman Khan and sentenced him to five years in prison, though the other defendants were acquitted due to lack of evidence. Khan was granted bail shortly after and has since challenged the conviction. The Rajasthan government has also appealed the acquittals.
Over the years, the Bishnoi gang has continued to issue threats against Khan and those associated with him, creating an ongoing tension in the industry.
