Aamir Khan recently provided an update on his much-anticipated movie, Sitaare Zameen Par, during the Red Sea International Film Festival. He announced that the film is now scheduled for a release in mid-2025, clarifying previous reports suggesting a December 2024 debut.
Sitaare Zameen Par serves as a sequel to his beloved 2007 film, Taare Zameen Par, which starred Darsheel Safary. While speaking with Deadline in Jeddah, Aamir mentioned that they will begin post-production later this month and expect to be ready for the film’s release in the middle of next year.
Aamir noted that Sitaare Zameen Par will introduce a completely new cast and storyline. “It’s a fresh set of characters, and the situation and plot are entirely new, even though thematically, it connects to Taare Zameen Par,” he explained.
In addition to this project, Aamir discussed several films in the pipeline under his production company. He revealed an upcoming movie titled Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and featuring Sunny Deol. Additionally, he is producing a film starring his son Junaid Khan, called Ek Din, which will also feature actress Sai Pallavi.
Aamir revealed that he has a third project lined up where he will take on a role, although he kept the specifics under wraps. He further announced a fourth venture, an Austin Powers-inspired film being written and directed by Vir Das, who will also act in it.
Currently, Aamir Khan is also engaged in an Oscar campaign for his film Laapataa Ladies.
