Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Reflects on Dream Meeting with Virat Kohli After IPL 2026 Final

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the young cricketing star, recently shared his thoughts on a memorable encounter with Virat Kohli following the IPL 2026 final. The 15-year-old batting prodigy expressed that speaking with Kohli felt surreal.

The buzz began when cameras captured Kohli approaching Sooryavanshi right after Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured their second consecutive IPL title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In an interview with Rajasthan Royals team manager Romi Bhinder, Sooryavanshi reminisced about his conversation with one of his idols. “Honestly, when Virat bhai placed his hand on my shoulder, I was in shock. I have always supported RCB and looked up to him. Talking to him felt like a dream come true for me,” he explained.

Vaibhav recounted how Kohli’s approach was friendly and relatable. “He spoke to me like an elder brother, guiding me on what I did well and areas I need to work on as I move forward in my career,” he added.

Sooryavanshi had a standout season in the IPL, scoring a remarkable 776 runs with a strike rate of 237.31. His fearless batting style made him a headline grabber, earning him multiple awards, including the Orange Cap for most runs, the Most Valuable Player award, and the Super Striker award. He also broke Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in a single IPL season.

What Did They Discuss?

Their conversation took place moments after the IPL final, where Kohli personally congratulated Sooryavanshi on his stellar performance. A video shared by RCB featured Kohli praising the young player’s daring style and encouraging him to stay dedicated. Kohli also provided advice on managing expectations as he steps into a bigger role in cricket.

Sooryavanshi mentioned that the meeting was particularly meaningful for him since he grew up admiring Kohli. He shared that he had closely followed Kohli’s career and had even gotten his autograph on a cap, making their exchange post-final even more special.

What Lies Ahead for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi?

Following his impressive IPL season, Sooryavanshi has earned his first call-up to the senior Indian team. He has been selected for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England, marking a significant milestone in his budding career.

With his confidence high after breaking records in the IPL and armed with valuable insights from one of India’s cricket legends, Sooryavanshi is ready to take on new challenges at the international level. Exciting times lie ahead for this talented young cricketer, as he embarks on the next chapter of his sports journey.
