Albino Buffalo Named After Trump Gains Popularity in Bangladesh
A unique albino buffalo has captured the attention of many in Bangladesh due to its striking resemblance to former President Donald Trump. This rare animal, affectionately dubbed “Donald Trump,” has a distinctive blond tuft of hair that has drawn comparisons to the president’s famous hairstyle.
The buffalo first became well-known when a local farmer pointed out its striking similarities. A video showcasing the pale, horned buffalo soon became a hit on social media, leading to increased crowds at a farm near Dhaka where it was temporarily kept.
Originally destined for slaughter during the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, government officials intervened, relocating the buffalo to the national zoo in Dhaka. Since arriving, it has attracted numerous visitors and sparked conversations about its unusual nickname.
Many zoo-goers appreciate the comparison, noting that there’s a resemblance in its eyes and hair. “It has a unique personality, much like Trump, and now enjoys a lot of attention,” said Mohammed Nasim, a local student.
Initially, the enclosure had a sign labeling the buffalo “Donald Trump,” but this has since been removed. The zoo’s curator was also recently let go, although the specific reasons remain unclear.
While many people come to take pictures and admire the famous buffalo, some express concern over the choice of name. Local resident Mohammad Joynal Adedin remarked, “Naming an animal after a prominent leader feels inappropriate.” Yet, despite his reservations, he visited the zoo to see the buffalo for himself, admitting, “It seems disrespectful, but I wanted to see it up close.”
As the buffalo continues to gain fame, it reflects not just an unusual likeness but also the blend of nature and pop culture in Bangladesh.
