Slingshot Biosciences Welcomes New Chief Operations Officer

Slingshot Biosciences has announced the appointment of Nimisha Srivastava, Ph.D., as its new Chief Operations Officer. With over two decades of experience in areas like nanofluidics and synthetic biology, Dr. Srivastava is expected to play a key role in advancing the company’s mission.

Dr. Srivastava’s deep knowledge in scaling innovative technologies will be crucial for establishing Slingshot Biosciences’ customizable cell mimics as benchmarks in research, diagnostics, and manufacturing. Before joining Slingshot, she made significant contributions at Twist Biosciences, where she was part of the founding engineering team. During her time there, she led efforts to scale laboratory processes and automated workflows. Notably, her team launched the groundbreaking “Factory of the Future,” a 100,000-square-foot production facility in 2021.

In addition to her work at Twist, Dr. Srivastava founded Poise Technologies, where she created sensors for cancer and cardiovascular diagnostics. She also worked on point-of-care microfluidic pathogen detection at NVS Technologies. Dr. Srivastava earned her Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan, focusing on fluid dynamics and miniaturization.

Expressing her excitement about the new role, Dr. Srivastava said, “Joining Slingshot Biosciences at this pivotal moment is truly thrilling. The company’s focus on cell therapy and drug discovery resonates with my values and experiences. I’m eager to collaborate with our talented team to enhance operations and provide value to our customers and stakeholders.”

As COO, Dr. Srivastava will be responsible for overseeing all research and development and operations, directing the push for innovative and scalable technologies. She will also work on aligning the company’s operational goals with its commercial strategy during a time of considerable growth.

CEO Jeffrey Kim shared his enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Nimisha to the Slingshot team. Her leadership and innovative mindset will be invaluable as we advance our mission together.”
