Teen Charged with Arson After Charter Bus Fire
A Canadian teenager is facing serious charges after allegedly setting fire to a charter bus used by an American baseball team. The incident occurred while the Kane County Cougars were in Winnipeg, Canada, for a series of games against the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
On May 21, local authorities received reports of the bus on fire outside Blue Cross Park. Law enforcement quickly determined that the fire was intentionally started. Two teenagers were taken into custody, and a 15-year-old girl has been charged with arson and possession of incendiary materials.
The police confirmed that the fire completely destroyed the bus and its contents. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. The teenager has since been released into the care of an adult.
Windstar, the company that operates the bus, expressed deep disappointment over the event. Jackson Greteman, an operations manager, mentioned that the loss of the bus, valued at around $425,000, will significantly impact their business. He also emphasized relief that no one was harmed in this reckless act.
Authorities are still investigating the incident and have not revealed any details regarding a possible motive.
