Israeli Nationalists Celebrate East Jerusalem’s Annexation with Grand Parade

Thousands March in Jerusalem for Annual Nationalist Parade Amid Tight Security

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM: On Thursday, thousands of Israeli nationalists took to the streets of the Muslim quarter in Jerusalem’s historic Old City. This event, marked by heavy security, commemorates Israel’s capture of East Jerusalem during a war nearly 60 years ago.

The parade, a key part of Jerusalem Day celebrations, has become a display of strength for Jewish nationalists. However, many Palestinians view it as a provocative act that threatens their connection to the city.

“Jerusalem is our holy city. It will always be our holy city,” expressed Shira Gefen, a 53-year-old Israeli who traveled from her home near Haifa to attend the event.

East Jerusalem was captured by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war and subsequently annexed, a move that remains unrecognized by the United Nations and most countries worldwide.
