Tristan Stubbs Criticized by Kris Srikkanth After Continued Struggles in IPL 2026

Kris Srikkanth, a former selector for the Indian cricket team, has harsh words for Tristan Stubbs as the young player faces criticism for his ongoing poor performance in IPL 2026. In a recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Delhi Capitals struggled significantly after a strong start.

Stubbs again fell short, managing only two runs from four balls before getting bowled out by Anukul Roy. This marks yet another disappointing outing for the South African, who has tallied just 259 runs over 11 matches. After beginning the season with promise, his recent scores of 5, 18, 38, and 2 have been lackluster.

In a discussion on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth expressed frustration with the Delhi Capitals’ batting performance, particularly highlighting Stubbs, Sameer Rizvi, and Nitish Rana. “What kind of batting are we seeing from DC? It’s really poor,” he stated.

Srikkanth went on to label Stubbs as “overrated,” emphasizing the need for him to step up. He pointed out that Rizvi started well but needed to contribute more, and that the match was crucial for Rana.

DC’s Struggles in the Match

The Capitals only managed to score 142 runs in their innings, with a particularly dismal stretch of 11 runs from overs 12 to 16. KKR, on the other hand, chased down this total comfortably, finishing with 5.4 overs to spare, thanks to a stellar century from Finn Allen.

Srikkanth pointed out that Delhi should have aimed for at least 180 runs after winning the toss and deciding to bat first. He criticized the team’s middle order and singled out Axar Patel as not meeting expectations with the bat.

“In conditions like this, winning the toss and opting to bat means you need to post a substantial total,” he remarked. He noted that while players could thrive on a good day, the overall performance of the middle order left much to be desired.

Srikkanth mentioned specific plays, including a surprising shot by KL Rahul that led to his dismissal, and offered no excuse for Stubbs’ performance against Roy’s delivery. He commended Ashutosh Sharma for his persistent efforts, noting that without his contributions, the team might have faced an even lower total.

As they prepare for their next match against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala on May 11, the Delhi Capitals will need to regroup and find their form.
