Nagaon–Batadraba Assembly Election Results 2026

In the recent 2026 Assembly elections, Rupak Sarmah from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a significant victory in the Nagaon–Batadraba constituency, winning by a margin of 61,984 votes against Dr. Durlav Chamua from the Congress party. The elections were held on April 9, 2026.

This constituency, which is one of the 126 assembly seats in Assam, has undergone name and boundary changes following the 2023 delimitation process. It was previously known as the Nowgong constituency.

During the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, when it was still called Nowgong, the constituency had 1,89,965 registered voters, with 1,55,942 valid votes cast. Rupak Sarmah won that election as well, obtaining 81,098 votes. The Congress candidate, Santanu Sarma, came in second with 70,015 votes, falling short by 11,083 votes.

Looking back further, in the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 1,66,796 registered voters and recorded 1,40,655 valid votes. Rupak Sarmah again emerged victorious, receiving 66,706 votes to defeat Congress’s Dr. Durlav Chamua, who garnered 53,442 votes. The margin of victory then was 13,264 votes.

As these results demonstrate, Rupak Sarmah has established a strong presence in the constituency, continuing to build on his previous wins.
