ISTANBUL: An 11-year-old girl has tragically passed away from injuries sustained in a school shooting in southern Turkey, marking the death toll at 10, according to reports on Monday.

Almina Agaoglu succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment in the hospital, as confirmed by private channel NTV.

The incident occurred on April 15, when a 14-year-old shooter opened fire at a school in the Kahramanmaras province, resulting in the deaths of nine students aged 10 and 11, along with one teacher. The attacker was found dead at the scene.

Authorities revealed that the boy carried five firearms into the school and was the son of a former police inspector, who has since been arrested for his connection to the shooting.

In a separate incident just a day earlier, a former student at a high school in the southeastern province of Sanliurfa opened fire on the campus, injuring 16 people, before taking his own life when confronted by police.

These violent acts have ignited public anger. In response, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has dismissed a deputy education minister and announced that the government plans to implement new measures, including stricter gun ownership laws.
