Indian Girls Shine on Day 1 of Asian U17 Boxing Championships 2026 with Five Strong Victories

Strong Start for India at U-17 Asian Boxing Championships in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan – May 3: The Indian U-17 girls’ boxing team kicked off their campaign at the Asian Boxing U-17 Championships in style, securing five remarkable victories on the opening day of the event.

Rakhi, competing in the 48kg category, set the tone for the team with an impressive win, defeating her opponent from Sri Lanka by RSC in just the first round.

Following her lead, Ovi (50kg) managed to achieve a unanimous 5-0 victory against a fighter from Iran. Mamta (52kg) also showcased her skills with a decisive 5-0 win over her Thai counterpart.

Lakshmi (54kg) continued India’s success, winning her match against a Korean boxer with another dominant 5-0 decision, showing her strong control throughout the bout.

Navya (57kg) wrapped up the successful day for India, clinching a victory by RSC in the first round against her opponent from Vietnam.

In the boys’ category, Neela Narendra Kumar (46kg) impressed with a strong performance, defeating Saudi Arabia’s Khalid Alhossah with an RSC victory in the first round. However, Daksh Pawar (48kg) faced a more challenging match, losing 0-5 to Tajikistan’s Firuzjon Boymatov.

With a fantastic start from the girls’ team and a solid showing from the boys, India looks forward to building on this momentum as the tournament unfolds, with many exciting matches still to come.
