Riyan Parag Reacts to Criticism After RR’s Loss to DC

Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag addressed recent off-field controversies following his team’s seven-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Friday.

In a post-match interview, Parag, who played a brilliant innings, scoring 90 runs off 50 balls, was asked if his performance helped silence critics questioning his recent form. He emphasized that he prefers to focus on winning rather than engaging with criticism.

“I don’t think it’s necessary to respond to critics. My main job is to secure points for the team. My innings doesn’t matter if we lose,” Parag stated after the game.

His comments come after a week of heightened scrutiny, particularly related to an incident where he was reprimanded for using an e-cigarette in the dressing room during a previous match against Punjab Kings. This led to a fine of 25% of his match fee and further investigation by the BCCI and IPL authorities regarding any additional actions.

Despite the media attention and ongoing discussions about his conduct, Parag expressed that he is more focused on achieving results for his team as the season progresses.

Parag’s Standout Innings Goes Unrewarded

On the field, Parag displayed his best form this season with his impressive 90-run performance. Entering when his team needed a boost, he mixed power hitting with clever plays, helping Rajasthan reach a solid score of 225/4. His innings showcased clean strokes and smart pacing at critical moments.

However, Delhi Capitals had a strong response. Openers Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul set a rapid pace, with Nissanka scoring 62 runs off 33 balls and Rahul contributing 75 runs off 40 balls. Their aggressive batting dismantled Rajasthan’s bowling attack, ultimately allowing Delhi to complete the highest successful chase in IPL history.

Following this defeat, Rajasthan Royals are now placed fourth on the points table, accumulating 12 points from ten matches. With four league games left, their playoff chances are still in their hands, but the team must perform well to secure a spot in the knockout stages.
