HSBC has appointed Gautam Anand as the new leader of its global private banking division focused on India. He began his role on April 24.
In his position, Anand will oversee operations not only in India but also in key international locations such as Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the UK. His primary goal is to provide comprehensive solutions tailored to Global India clients.
Anand reports to Tommy Leung, the head of the South Asia private bank, and Aladdin Hangari, the head of the MENAT private bank. Leung expressed confidence in Anand’s ability to enhance cross-market solutions, emphasizing the growing international perspective of their clientele. He stated, “Gautam has extensive experience and a proven history in leading Global India client services. His leadership will help us connect teams better and serve our clients more effectively.”
With over 25 years in private banking, wealth management, and investment banking, Anand brings significant expertise to his new role. He joined HSBC Private Bank in December 2023, where he acted as the global coordinator for the Global India, Middle East, North Africa, and Europe regions.
Before HSBC, he held senior positions at various international financial institutions aimed at boosting the growth of South Asian client operations.
This announcement follows the appointment of Alfonso Gómez as the CEO of HSBC Private Bank (Suisse) SA and as the country head for Switzerland, effective April 27, 2026. Gómez previously served as the CEO of BBVA Switzerland for over 12 years. He takes over from Daniel Calado, who served as interim CEO and will continue as CFO for HSBC Private Bank Switzerland and EMEA, while also remaining on the executive committee.
