Check Point Expands SecureAcademy Program to Eight New Universities in India

Check Point Software Technologies has broadened its SecureAcademy initiative to include eight more prominent universities in India. This expansion aims to tackle the increasing gap in cybersecurity skills across the nation.

The company announced that the program will offer students from engineering, law, and other fields practical training in cybersecurity, along with certification courses and internship prospects. The first phase of this initiative, which kicked off on February 9, 2026, is expected to benefit around 200 to 300 students.

Participating Universities

The newly added universities in Check Point’s SecureAcademy program are:

  • Dayananda Sagar University (including DSCE and DASTAM)
  • Shri Devi Institute of Engineering and Sciences
  • Shri Siddhartha Institute of Technology
  • BNM Institute of Technology
  • BMS College of Engineering
  • BMS Institute of Technology and Management
  • Jain University
  • Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Engineering
  • Lovely Professional University

Students enrolled in these institutions will have the opportunity to access certification programs like the Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) and Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE).

The training offered will consist of practical labs, self-paced online courses, workshops, guest lectures, and certification options. Participants can expect 40 hours of theoretical instruction paired with 10 hours of lab sessions guided by cybersecurity professionals from Check Point’s Technical Assistance Center.

Benefits for Students

In addition to hands-on training, students will receive:

  • An 85% discount on certification exams
  • Access to software licenses
  • eBooks
  • Participation in virtual SecureAcademy events
  • Support for faculty training

The program also anticipates selecting around 15 students for internships in 2026. Notably, Check Point has pointed out that India is currently experiencing a shortage of cybersecurity professionals. Demand for these roles has surged sevenfold over the past year, as organizations in India face an average of 3,104 cyberattacks weekly—significantly higher than the global average of 1,959.

According to Check Point, the shift toward specialized roles, including cybersecurity, is critical due to the rise of AI in traditional IT jobs. “In India, the demand for cybersecurity skills is growing rapidly, yet the talent gap remains severe. This transition to specialized roles is moving the workforce from volume-driven IT jobs to higher-value positions,” said Sundar Balasubramanian, Managing Director at Check Point. He emphasized the program’s role in preparing students across various fields with essential, industry-relevant skills.

Officials from the participating universities also noted that this initiative would provide students with valuable practical experience in cybersecurity, helping them navigate the evolving job landscape.
