Jay Shah Recognized as Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum

Jay Shah has made it to the Young Global Leaders list released by the World Economic Forum, highlighting his significant role in the world of cricket administration. His recognition stems from his impactful work at the International Cricket Council (ICC), where he has been a driving force in expanding cricket’s reach globally.

Every year, the World Economic Forum selects a group of inspirational leaders under 40 who are making a difference in their fields. This year’s list features leaders from nearly 55 different countries, showcasing a diverse range of talent.

The Forum noted, “Meet the Class of 2026, outstanding leaders under 40 who are reshaping leadership in our evolving world.” These individuals are leaving their mark across various industries.

During his time in cricket administration, Shah has focused on broadening the game beyond its traditional markets. He has successfully overseen major global tournaments, including the upcoming 2026 World Cup in India, set to be the biggest yet.

At just 37 years old, Shah has risen to become a powerful figure in cricket. His influence grew as he played a crucial role in shaping policies for Indian cricket, steadily enhancing his impact on the worldwide stage.

Jay Shah’s Journey in Global Cricket

Before achieving global recognition, Jay Shah served as the honorary secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), effectively acting as the leader of the Indian cricket board. During his time there, he made significant contributions, from improving women’s domestic cricket to successfully negotiating media rights for the Indian Premier League, solidifying India’s position in the international cricket landscape.

Under his leadership, the BCCI not only strengthened its financial standing but also continued to host major tournaments and series against other nations.

His rising influence in domestic cricket naturally led to a greater role on the global front. Shah eventually became the chairman of the International Cricket Council, marking a major turning point in his career.

This transition highlights Shah’s journey from a key player in Indian cricket to a respected voice on the global cricket scene, representing India’s ongoing leadership in the sport.
