RCB Decides Against Victory Parade After IPL 2026 Win
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have chosen not to hold a victory parade in Bengaluru after successfully defending their IPL title in 2026. They clinched their second consecutive championship by defeating the Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final.
The team has opted out of public celebrations due to security concerns and guidelines from local authorities. This decision comes nearly a year after a tragic incident during celebrations for RCB’s first-ever title, where a stampede near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium resulted in 11 fatalities. This event sparked significant outcry and led to government and judicial actions.
Moreover, the upcoming swearing-in ceremony for Karnataka’s new Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, is set to draw large crowds to the city, requiring a substantial police presence. With the Governor’s residence located near the stadium, authorities are prioritizing security in the area.
An RCB representative stated, “It’s highly unlikely that there will be any public celebrations in Bengaluru. We need to follow established guidelines.”
Bengaluru Police had previously advised fans against celebrating on the streets, setting restrictions on fireworks and activities that could disturb public order. Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh emphasized that any celebrations should take place indoors to ensure safety.
Additionally, many RCB players are preparing for international duties. Devdutt Padikkal will be joining the Indian Test squad, while other international players, including Josh Hazlewood and Tim David, have national team commitments.
As a result, the festivities for RCB’s title defense are expected to be quite subdued, marking a significant achievement as they become only the third team in IPL history to win back-to-back titles.
