Carlos Alcaraz is making the best of his time off the tennis court. Recently, the Spanish tennis star was seen enjoying a beach getaway in Portugal as he recovers from a wrist injury that has kept him sidelined during a vital part of the 2026 season.
Alcaraz chose Comporta, a beloved beach spot south of Lisbon, to relax with friends at the JNcQUOI Beach Club on Praia do Pego. The 23-year-old often visits Portugal between tournaments, seeking the calm atmosphere to recharge away from the hustle and bustle.
This vacation comes with some good news regarding his recovery. A recent video shared on social media showed Alcaraz wearing a smaller wrist support than the large splint he had been using, bringing hope to fans about his healing process. While there’s no confirmed timeline for his return, these updates suggest that his wrist is improving steadily.
Alcaraz’s Injury Journey
Alcaraz’s injury concerns began during the Barcelona Open in April, where he hurt his right wrist in the first round against Otto Virtanen. The injury turned out to be more serious than he thought, leading him to pull out of the tournament and miss the rest of the clay-court season.
This setback also meant he had to skip Roland Garros, where he was the defending champion, as well as Wimbledon, a tournament he has won twice and finished as runner-up in 2025. When announcing his withdrawal from the grass-court season, Alcaraz acknowledged that while he was recovering well, he wasn’t ready to compete at his best level just yet.
Before his injury, Alcaraz was having another fantastic season, with a record of 22 wins and just 3 losses. He also clinched titles at the Australian Open and the Qatar Open, proving why he remains a top player in men’s tennis.
