AR Rahman, the renowned music composer, has surprised many by announcing his separation from his wife, Saira, after nearly three decades of marriage. The couple shared this news in a joint statement, asking the media to respect their privacy during this time. However, just hours later, bassist Mohini Dey posted about her own divorce, which sparked rumors linking her to Rahman’s separation. This led to speculation and accusations that she was involved, prompting Dey to take to social media to clarify that these claims were unfounded and to urge people not to spread false information.

In light of the ongoing rumors, AR Rahman has decided to take legal action. His legal team has issued a notice, which Rahman shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. The notice states that legal action will be pursued against those who have spread harmful and defamatory content about him. It emphasized that any objectionable material should be removed within an hour, with a maximum deadline of 24 hours. Failure to comply could lead to criminal defamation charges, punishable by up to two years in prison, with or without a fine.

Along with the notice, Rahman posted a four-page letter detailing the situation and addressing the “slanderers.”

In the midst of these developments, Rahman and Saira’s children — Khateeja, Raheema, and Ameen — have shown their support for their parents. In response to the rampant speculation about their family, Ameen also made a statement on social media condemning the rumors.

As this story unfolds, it highlights the challenges faced by public figures and the impact of speculation on personal lives.
