Protests Erupt in Tel Aviv Against War with Iran

On Saturday, hundreds of Israelis gathered in a central square in Tel Aviv to voice their opposition to the ongoing war with Iran. They carried signs with messages like “Don’t bomb — talk! End the endless war!” and shouted slogans against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Despite restrictions on large gatherings due to the conflict, the demonstrators were determined to make their voices heard. Alon-Lee Green, co-director of the grassroots group Standing Together, expressed concern over the police’s attempts to silence their message. “We demand an end to the wars in Iran, Lebanon, and Gaza, as well as the violence in the West Bank,” he said.

Many protesters expressed doubts about the government’s reasons for the conflict. One participant, 62-year-old Cecile, shared her thoughts, saying, “I’m very suspicious of the reasons. I think Bibi wants to distract from his trial.” Netanyahu is currently facing a corruption trial and has been seeking a presidential pardon, a request that has drawn attention from U.S. President Donald Trump.

Cecile added that the reasons for the war seem unstable and unclear. “We don’t know what success looks like or how long this will last,” she noted.

The rally came amid an escalation of violence, with Iranian missiles being launched at Israel, including strikes in Tel Aviv. Reports indicate that at least five people were injured due to the missile attacks.

Since late February, the United States and Israel have been coordinating military actions against Iran, which has led to retaliatory missile strikes from the Islamic Republic aimed at Israel and neighboring regions. The protests in Tel Aviv underscore the growing frustration among many Israelis regarding the ongoing conflict and its impact on their lives.
