Aamir Khan Productions has set the theatrical release date for its much-anticipated period drama, Lahore 1947, as August 13, 2026. This release coincides with the Independence Day week, deepening the film’s historical significance.
This project marks the first collaboration of Sunny Deol with director Rajkumar Santoshi and producer Aamir Khan, generating excitement among fans. The film brings together significant talents who have created some of the most beloved films in Hindi cinema.
Recently, Aamir Khan shared a touching moment related to the film, especially poignant following the death of veteran actor Dharmendra. He mentioned, “I’m lucky to have spent time with him. In fact, I showed him Lahore, and he loved the script. I’m grateful he got to see it before its release.”
The film features a robust cast, including Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh. The music, composed by AR Rahman and with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, adds even more depth to this ambitious project.
Lahore 1947 draws inspiration from Dr. Asghar Wajahat’s noted play, ‘Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai’. It focuses on human relationships and emotional struggles amid the backdrop of India’s Partition, exploring themes of personal loss and the challenges of coexistence during a pivotal time in history.
For Sunny Deol, this film will follow his role in Border 2, while for Aamir Khan, it’s a key production that emphasizes historical storytelling. With its Independence week premiere solidified, anticipation is building as audiences look forward to more insights into the film.
