A curious moment occurred during the clash between the Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Thunder on December 30. Some players from the Scorchers found themselves in an unusual situation before the match.
Laurie Evans, Ashton Agar, Aaron Hardie, and Mahli Beardman were traveling to the stadium in an Uber when the vehicle broke down. Stranded, the four players had to get out and push the car in an effort to get it started. After a brief struggle, they managed to hop back in and continue on their way.
During the game, Laurie Evans shared the story with a smile, bringing laughter to both fans and commentators. Fortunately, this minor setback didn’t affect the team’s performance. Batting first, the Scorchers scored an impressive 202 runs, thanks in large part to Ashton Turner, who finished with a brilliant 99 runs. He narrowly missed his century when the last recognized batter, Ashton Agar, was dismissed while trying to hit a big shot.
The Scorchers then showcased their bowling skills, bowling out the Thunder for just 131 runs in 17.3 overs. This convincing win moved Perth up to third place in the Big Bash League standings, trailing only the Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes.
