South Africa’s Bowling Coach Updates on Rabada’s Availability for Guwahati Test
South Africa’s bowling coach, Piet Botha, has announced that a decision regarding Kagiso Rabada’s participation in the upcoming Test match in Guwahati will be made just before the game starts. Rabada was unable to play in the recent Test in Kolkata due to a rib injury he sustained during practice.
After South Africa’s victory in Kolkata, the team’s media manager confirmed that Rabada is still being evaluated, a sentiment Botha reiterated. “We are keeping an eye on Kagiso Rabada. We will make a decision in the next 24 hours,” he said.
Botha also praised spinner Simon Harmer, who had an impressive performance in Kolkata, taking eight wickets and earning the Player of the Match title. Botha reassured fans there are no concerns regarding Harmer’s shoulder. “If the ball starts turning early, he could be very effective, especially with many left-handed batsmen in the opposing lineup,” he added.
Regarding the pitch conditions in Guwahati, Botha expressed uncertainty about any changes to the grass on the surface. Since this will be the first Test match held at the venue, both teams are exploring uncharted territory. “We looked at the pitch this morning, but with two days to go, it’s hard to say if they will cut more grass. That could make a significant difference,” he explained. “We have heard that the Guwahati wicket is good for batting, but whether it will turn early depends on how the grass is managed.”
As the teams prepare for this exciting match, fans will be waiting to see if Rabada can make a return and how the pitch will affect play.
