Investigators Identify Driver of Car Explosion Near Delhi
In a recent incident near Delhi’s Red Fort, authorities have made significant progress in identifying the driver of a car that exploded on November 10. Key forensic evidence played a crucial role, including a charred leg found near the accelerator and a black sports shoe discovered next to the wreckage. Reports indicate that the blast nearly destroyed the vehicle, leaving only parts of the bonnet, a tyre, and a piece of the gear lever intact. Forensic teams have collected the leg fragment from the driver’s side and sent it for DNA analysis.
Composition of the Explosive
Initial forensic analysis has revealed that the explosion was caused by a mixture of ammonium nitrate and triacetone triperoxide (TATP). These are highly dangerous chemicals, closely monitored under regulations. Early findings suggest that around 30-40 kg of ammonium nitrate was in the vehicle, which likely contributed to the powerful explosion.
Tragic Blast in Nowgam
In a separate blast incident in Nowgam, tragedy struck as Mohammad Amin Mir, a head constable working for the Forensic Science Laboratory, lost his life. Just before the explosion, he spoke with his younger brother, saying he was busy with work but would return home soon. Mir was part of the team that was investigating explosive materials when the accident occurred late Friday night.
