Hegseth Reports on Latest U.S. Strike Aimed at Suspected Narco-Terrorists

Brief: The U.S. military executed another strike in the Eastern Pacific on Wednesday, targeting individuals involved in drug trafficking. Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth reported that three suspected narco-terrorists were killed during this operation, which followed an order from President Donald Trump.

Hegseth described the strike as a precise action against a vessel linked to designated terrorist organizations. He stated that the vessel was known for smuggling narcotics along a recognized trafficking route and had been carrying illegal drugs at the time of the strike. All three individuals aboard were killed, and thankfully, no U.S. personnel were harmed.

This incident marks the ninth attack on vessels since September and the second in this region. Reports indicate that a total of 37 individuals have died in these strikes, while two have survived and were sent back to their home countries.

Hegseth emphasized the ongoing commitment to confront these threats, stating, “These are not just drug runners—these are narco-terrorists inflicting harm on our communities. We will relentlessly pursue them until this threat is eliminated.”

The Pentagon has not disclosed the identities of those killed or provided evidence of drug presence on board. Meanwhile, the Trump administration faces criticism for these military actions. Senator Rand Paul highlighted concerns about the lack of due process and the risk of innocent casualties.

Paul also referenced statistics showing that a notable number of boats intercepted for drug trafficking are often found to be innocent. He urged that any potential conflict with Venezuela, particularly targeting boats associated with the Tren de Aragua gang, should require formal congressional approval.
