Indian Railways Boosts Travel for Diwali and Chhath Puja with Special Train Services
As the vibrant festivals of Diwali and Chhath Puja approach, Indian Railways is stepping up to make travel easier for millions. An extensive network of special trains is being introduced to ensure smooth and comfortable journeys for passengers heading home to celebrate with their families.
To meet the expected surge in travel, the North Western Railway is launching 44 pairs of special trains that will connect major cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Howrah, along with key areas in Bihar. This initiative aims to ease the journey for those traveling to festive destinations.
In addition to the special trains, several measures are in place to enhance the travel experience. Extra coaches are being added to existing trains, and volunteers along with Railway Protection Force personnel will be stationed at major railway stations. Their role is crucial in handling the increased number of passengers during this busy time, ensuring safety and security for everyone.
The Central Railway is also making significant efforts by running 1,702 special trains to support passengers traveling during these festivals. The increased frequency of trains aims to provide timely and pleasant travel experiences, making it easier for travelers to make it home for the celebrations.
To streamline the ticket purchasing process, additional ticket counters will be set up at various major stations to manage the higher foot traffic. This is expected to shorten waiting times for travelers eager to secure their journeys.
Indian Railways is also addressing concerns about misleading information circulating on social media regarding train operations and station conditions. The Ministry of Railways has implemented measures to combat the spread of false content. They are tracking and taking legal action against several social media accounts that share misleading videos and information.
Passengers are encouraged to rely only on official communication channels for updates. The Ministry has verified social media accounts on platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, which will provide accurate and timely information.
In a public advisory, the Ministry of Railways cautioned users against sharing unverified content, as it may create unnecessary panic among travelers. Travelers are urged to verify any railway-related information through trusted sources.
These proactive steps taken by Indian Railways focus not only on accommodating the large crowds expected during these festive periods but also on maintaining a high level of service and transparency. By improving connectivity, adding resources, and combating misinformation, Indian Railways is dedicated to providing a stress-free travel experience for all passengers during this festive season.
With these initiatives in place, travelers can look forward to a more convenient and enjoyable journey home for Diwali and Chhath Puja.
