Virginia Healthcare Worker Fired Over Controversial Comments

A healthcare worker in Virginia has lost her job after making inappropriate remarks regarding the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. This incident is part of a larger trend, as an increasing number of employees have been dismissed or suspended for their reactions to Kirk’s assassination on Wednesday.

The woman, who worked as an anesthesiologist at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, posted on social media, revealing “highly inappropriate comments supporting violence against a public figure,” according to an email from the hospital. Riverside Hospital became aware of her post on Thursday morning but did not release the employee’s name.

The anesthesiologist was contracted through North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA). Following the incident, the hospital took swift action, stating that her contract was terminated by mid-morning on September 11. The statement emphasized that she is no longer associated with Riverside Health.

Backlash in Other Industries

In addition to this incident, a barbecue restaurant in Cincinnati has also faced criticism due to comments made by one of its co-owners following Kirk’s death. Aaron Sharpe, who co-owns Lucius Q, reacted to a social media post expressing condolences for Kirk’s family. His response included phrases like “Good riddance,” and “What a piece of s—.” While his original post has since been deleted, screenshots have circulated widely online.

Following the backlash, several of Lucius Q’s business partners and vendors decided to cut ties with the restaurant. The establishment later announced that it had parted ways with Sharpe.

As public sentiment continues to respond to such incidents, the swift reactions from both the healthcare field and the restaurant industry reflect a heightened awareness of social media’s impact on professional reputations.
