The anime scene in India is growing, and the excitement around Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle showcases this perfectly. The film is set to hit theaters on Friday, September 13, and ticket sales are soaring, leading to many shows already being sold out or nearly full.
Advance ticket sales kicked off on September 5, and interest soared, especially for the 2D IMAX format. To accommodate this high demand, some theaters are offering very early morning screenings. For instance, Cinepolis Seawoods in Navi Mumbai will host a special 5:20 am show on the release day. This marks a significant moment, as it’s the first time a Japanese movie will have such early screenings in India.
In addition to Navi Mumbai, the IMAX theaters at PVR Vegas in Dwarka and Inox Vishal Mall in Delhi will show the film at 6:40 am. PVR Ambience in Gurugram and PVR Select City Walk will feature 7:30 am screenings. In Bengaluru, shows are scheduled for 6:30 am at PVR Nexus, Inox Mantri Square, and Inox Galleria Mall. Notably, Inox Megaplex in Pune will kick things off at 5:15 am, starting five minutes earlier than the Navi Mumbai screening. Given the growing ticket demand, more early morning slots are likely to be added soon across theaters.
On the sales front, PVR has already sold 25,000 tickets for the film, while Cinepolis has reported sales of 6,000. In just the last day, over 65,000 tickets were sold on the app BookMyShow. With such a buzz, Demon Slayer is expected to have a strong opening on September 12.
