Ukrainian Sniper Sets New Record for Longest Sniper Kill
A Ukrainian sniper unit recently achieved a remarkable feat, reportedly setting a world record for the longest confirmed sniper kill at over 13,000 feet (4,000 meters). The shot, executed using a Ukrainian-made rifle with assistance from artificial intelligence and drone technology, resulted in the elimination of two Russian soldiers in the Pokrovsk region of Ukraine.
Military journalist Yuri Butusov noted that this record-breaking shot occurred on August 14, 2025, utilizing sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems alongside a 14.5 mm Alligator rifle.
Increased Tensions in Pokrovsk
This notable achievement comes amid rising tensions and intensified Russian military operations near Pokrovsk, a city that was once home to over 60,000 residents. The area has seen sustained conflict, emphasizing the ongoing struggles faced by both Ukrainian forces and civilians.
Prior to this new record, the previous longest confirmed sniper kill was made by a 58-year-old Ukrainian sniper from a distance of approximately 12,400 feet (3,800 meters).
Global Attention
Coincidentally, this sniper milestone occurred just a day before President Donald Trump was scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a high-profile summit. The meeting was held in Alaska, where both leaders described their discussions as being conducted in a “constructive atmosphere of mutual respect.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to meet with Trump in Washington, D.C., to further discuss the ongoing conflict and strategies for ending the violence. Zelenskyy expressed his commitment to addressing the situation directly with Trump, stating that they would discuss all necessary details to end the war.
