On October 9, a vibrant spectacle erupted in the enchanting city of Jaipur as the much-anticipated trailer for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 made its grand debut, hosted in the legendary Raj Mandir theater. The air buzzed with excitement, prompting industry insiders to share their insights regarding the star-studded lineup featuring Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit.
Trade stalwart Taran Adarsh chimed in with enthusiasm: “This trailer strikes a chord! The amalgamation of comedy and horror is nothing short of a dynamite combo. Notably, the strength of the brand resonates loudly.”
Directed by the adept Anees Bazmee—returning after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2—the film has garnered praise from its revered predecessor’s mentor, the beloved David Dhawan. “What captivates me is the thrill of seeing two Manjulikas unleashed! The trailer invites curiosity around Madhuri’s role, and Anees weaves the elements seamlessly. His brilliance stands tall; I have immense admiration for his craft,” he remarked.
Others in the industry were quick to echo Dhawan’s sentiments. Adarsh elaborated, “This tale will unfold as a face-off between Rooh Baba and not one, but two Manjulikas! Who holds the true essence of fear? The glimpses of their dance in the trailer promise an unforgettable number—perhaps reminiscent of iconic hits like Dola Re Dola or Dance Of Envy.”
Producer and film analyst Girish Johar highlighted the trailer’s electric vibe, suggesting it elevates the franchise’s narrative. “Unexpectedly featuring two Manjulikas adds an intriguing twist! With titans like Vidya and Madhuri, my excitement knows no bounds,” he exclaimed.
Film distributor Akshaye Rathi shared his optimism, asserting that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 embodies the spirit of pure entertainment. “With the dazzling inclusion of Madhuri, Triptii, and the return of Vidya alongside Kartik—who impeccably embodies Rooh Baba—I am hopeful for a Diwali blockbuster that lights up the box office,” he stated.
Moreover, industry experts heaped praise upon Kartik Aaryan. Taran Adarsh noted the shift in association with the franchise, stating, “While Akshay Kumar may have taken the helm initially, Kartik has seized the mantle! His charm in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 endeared him to audiences, making this franchise intrinsically linked to him.”
With Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 being Aaryan’s crowning achievement, raking in ₹185.92 crores, Adarsh contended, “If Kartik can propel Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 past this mark, it could redefine his career trajectory.” Johar chimed in, applauding the calculated decision to launch the trailer in a buzzing locale like Jaipur.
Rathi added his accolades for the seasoned actresses, exclaiming, “Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit are phenomenal forces! In a genre like this, I anticipate witnessing their exuberance and versatility unfold on screen.”
As for the genre itself, horror-comedies are undeniably carving their niche this year. Adarsh remarked, “2024 marks a renaissance for supernatural and horror comedies, with titles like Shaitaan, Munjya, and Stree 2 paving the way for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.”
Echoing this sentiment, Johar noted, “Post-pandemic, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 heralded the return of audiences, rejuvenating the horror-comedy genre.” However, Rathi cautioned, “Irrespective of the genre, the key lies in delivering sufficient entertainment to entice audiences. Hence, credit must be awared judiciously.”
Yet, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 isn’t hitting theaters solo. Adarsh identified the formidable competitor looming on the horizon—Singham Again. “This behemoth, featuring an impressive cast and directed by the renowned Rohit Shetty, embodies significant cultural weight. If well-integrated with Diwali themes, Singham Again could emerge unstoppable,” he explained.
However, he affirmed, “This trailer signals that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 stands its ground with conviction.” Johar noted, “The mere fact that Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 can offer substantial competition to Singham Again is impressive in itself.”
Rathi enthused, “This Diwali, we’re set to revel in both Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again. These films promise to be colossal spectacles! I remain hopeful that this festive season breaks the traditional box office barriers, allowing both films to shine together.”
He elaborated, “I foresee no conflict arising; if both narratives captivate, audiences will flock to theaters, exploring each film in their own time. It’s essential to maximize screen share, allowing patrons the freedom to enjoy both cinematic wonders.”
In a twist of fate, the trailer did attract some online flak. Taran Adarsh wrapped up with an insightful reminder: “A small faction may grumble, ‘The trailers for Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 reveal the entire story!’ My reply? Patience, dear critics! Do you genuinely believe the creators would reveal their entire repertoire? Picture abhi baaki hai—these naysayers have even misjudged Stree in the past. Hand them a tissue and let them dry their tears.”
