During the fourth Test match against England, India’s batting strategy was once again in the spotlight. Dinesh Karthik expressed his surprise over the decision to send Shardul Thakur in to bat before Washington Sundar, especially after Rishabh Pant had to retire hurt.
Karthik noted, “I was really taken aback. Washington has shown great skill with the bat throughout this series. He often performs well when he has experienced players around him. With Pant out and Sai Sudharsan just dismissed, it seemed like a perfect time for Sundar to come in and bring some stability to the innings.” His comments came just after the unusual decision was made.
